Seth Thomas
"Arch Top" Mantel Clock
This
is a nice example of a popular Seth Thomas Clock Company model, ca.
1880. The burl walnut veneered case houses a spring-driven, eight-day
time and strike movement that is stamped "S. Thomas/ Plymouth
Conn./ USA."
This beautiful piece retains its original Geneva stop-work, which
allows the mainspring to function within its optimum power range. The
clock strikes the hour on a resonant coiled gong. The case retains
most of its original finish, and the instruction label is in good
condition. The original painted dial has a few small losses, but the
surface is stable. Hands, glass, and case lock are original.
